FUNCTIONS OF THE
AUTHORITY
Formulation, development and implementation of
mental health policies
Integration of mental health services with the
general health care system at the primary, district, regional and national
levels and specialised services as necessary
Collaboration with the relevant regulatory
bodies to ensure compliance with accreditation and other standards of mental
health care
Provision of services for substance use
disorders at the primary care, district, regional and national levels
Provision of educational, vocational and leisure
opportunities within mental health facilities.
Collaboration with various healthcare service
providers, Traditional and Alternative Medicine Council and other providers of
unorthodox mental health to ensure the best care of persons with mental
disorder
Attraction and retention of the right mix of
human resource through appropriate emoluments, remuneration, allowances and
incentive package and conditions of service.
Protection and ensuring the rights and
responsibilities of persons with mental disorder against discrimination and
stigmatization
Provision for safety of staff of the Authority
and persons suffering from mental disorder.
